Year-Round and Weekly Markets in Sardinia for Foodies to Explore

Believe it or not, one of the first things I like to research when I plan a trip is - where are the local markets? Most European cities offer weekly markets on a certain day of the week, or offer indoor markets for getting to know the local products. These are my favorite types of things to wiggle into an itinerary, especially so I can plan to be there on Market Day!

Below I've scoured Google for the best street markets in Sardinia, including night markets, weekly markets, and indoor markets. Perhaps you'll be rearranging your itinerary like I do, just to be a part of the market day fun!

Street Markets in Sardinia

Weekly Markets in Sardinia

Bosa's Tuesday Market

When: Every Tuesday year-round

Where: Bosa

A small market, the Bosa Market is big in personality. Boasting local cheese products, cured meats and the typical market fare, it's a charming way to spend a morning in the lovely town at the base of the Malaspina Castle (the Castle of Serravalle).

Alghero's Wednesday Market

When: Open Wednesdays from 8am-1 or 2pm

Where: Viale Sardegna, just north of the old town in Alghero

A must on Wednesday mornings, this sprawling market is great for visitors. There's plenty to see and shop for from local food products to clothing and souvenirs.

Pro Tip: Stay in Bosa on a Monday night, visit the Tuesday market in the morning, then head on to Alghero for a Tuesday night stay, visiting the market on Wednesday!

San Pantaleo's Thursday Market (Mercato di San Pantaleo del giovedì)

When: Every Thursday from May to October

Where: San Pantaleo

Find typical local foods and treasures in a charming old village with the landscape of craggy stone peaks as a backdrop.

Can't make it on market day in San Pantaleo? It's still worth taking a look around with this organized walking tour (and aperitif!).

Mercato di Santa Teresa Gallura

When: Every Thursday from 8am-2pm

Where: Santa Teresa Gallura

Because this market is set near the ferry port between Bonifacio, Corsica and Sardinia, there is a lot of trade here between French products and local Sardinian products.

Mercato Olbia Sabato

When: Every Saturday year-round

Where: Olbia

Find fruits and vegetables, cheese and meat, and some clothing stalls.
